For week 10's challenge activity we were asked to create a persona that might identify with one of our previous artefacts. Here's what I came up with:
Name: Julien
Age: 45
Role: Casual gamer
Description: Likes playing video games, boardgames and Roleplaying Games to relax after work.
Key quote: I play games because, I enjoy being part of the story and controlling the action. I also enjoy the escapism and being so engrossed that I don't realise how much time has passed!
Demographic information: Single, can afford to purchase video games and expensive boardgames, owns a gaming PC.
User goals:
· I’m not worried about graphics, just being engaged with what I’m doing
· I want to be distracted from real life
· I want player interaction and co-operation
· I want to solve problems
Although I didn’t consider the user story method when working through the RI sessions, I think Julien would potentially enjoy both artefacts that I’ve worked on so far – albeit in the short term, both games would offer some escapism, but would probably lack the complexity or player interaction for long term investment. However, Outpost 68 would likely hold his interest longer.
